Leonardo Da Vinci, Early Renaissance

SashaPinney: “The artist as the organ of the outlandish threatens and soothes at the same time. The threat produces a defense. But since it turns out to be harmless, the spectator begins to laugh at himself about his fear.” -Hugo Ball My art practice intends to question the irrational nature and behavior of an artist through elements of both documentation and narrative. I use a variety of mediums to best represent the specific concept at hand: paint, sculpture, mixed media and found objects. Playfully encouraging the spectator to acknowledge the work as a manifestation of myself I ask the audience to consider what drives an artist to produce. The inclination to create and obsessive nature of an artist is the platform that I use to reference the repetition and absurdity in the practice of daily life activities and events.
